Major General U Suresh Kumar, AVSM, YSM, VSM (Retd), is a distinguished alumnus of Sainik School Bijapur, NDA, and IMA, commissioned into the Punjab Regiment in 1984 and retired in January 2022 after 38 years of service. He has held key operational commands in Manipur, J&K, and the Eastern Borders, earning multiple gallantry awards including the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. He served as a UN Military Observer in Sierra Leone and later coordinated operations there. Academically, he holds advanced degrees in Defence and Strategic Studies and Defence Management, and has over a decade of teaching experience in prestigious institutions such as the National Defence College and IIT Kanpur. His expertise spans Strategic Thinking, National Security, Terrorism, Red Teaming, and Scenario Building, making significant contributions to strategic gaming and defence education.
General Surender is a highly decorated Military Leader with more than 37 years of experience in Defense, Artillery, and Strategic & Space industry as also diverse global experience in Strategic Operations, Human Resources and Supply chain Management in challenging military environments. He has Commanded Artillery of the Northern Theatre as a Major General, an Artillery Brigade in the Strike Corps in the Southern Theatre & an Artillery Unit in the Western Theatre besides Commanding Strategic Missile Force of Prithivi, Brahmos & Agni. At the Army HQ & Defense Ministry level has been at the helm for Equipment Management, Quality control & Mission Reliability, besides “Make in India” & indigenization initiatives & Reorganization of various agencies supporting Indian Defence.
Col Jai Govind served for 33 years in the Indian Army’s Air Defence branch. During his service, he commanded the current Akash Missile Regt. An alumnus of NDA (National Defence Academy, Pune) and Graduate of Technical Staff Course from DIAT (Defence Institute of Advance Technology, Pune), he has tenanted both Aerospace and logistics related appointments at Strategic, Operational and Tactical levels. He is trained by DRDO and ISRO on Space Launchers. In his last assignment he was Director of NCC for states of Karnataka and Goa.
Presently, he is an Associate Professor at ECE Department, CHRIST University. He teaches emerging technologies like Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Synthetic Aperture Radar, and the computational mathematics behind these technologies in the Electronics and Communication engineering Department.
